How to recognise an agency that has its affairs in order

Nine points that can be checked in five minutes before sending a request.

Published 2026-08-21, editorial team dutchgigolo.nl

What should be on the site

A reachable phone number or email address rather than only a form. A disclaimer stating what the agency mediates in and what it does not. Rates on the profiles rather than on request. And general conditions covering cancellation.

One of these missing says little on its own. Three or four missing says enough.

What should happen in first contact

A careful agency names the total including travel costs before anything is fixed. It asks about duration and location, and it suggests a name rather than only confirming what was asked for.

There should be no hurry in it. Pressure to decide within the hour is a poor sign in this market.

Where it usually goes wrong

Surcharges raised only on the evening itself. A travel charge nobody mentioned. A rate that turns out to differ for couples. And a phone that goes unanswered on the day of the appointment.

Those four account for most of what goes wrong here, and all four can be headed off with two questions: what is the total, and who is reachable on the day.

The nine points

Reachable without a form. Clear disclaimer. Rates visible. Travel costs stated in advance. Cancellation terms findable. No advance payment through irreversible methods. No pressure to decide. An answer about what data is kept. And a phone number that works on the day itself.

Editorial note

An agency that writes out its procedure makes these checks easier. The Men's Company sets it out on a dedicated page.

Unpaid note. dutchgigolo.nl has no commercial relationship with the agencies mentioned and receives nothing for bookings made there.
