Making an appointment
From first message to confirmation, with what belongs in a request and what an agency should send back.
How it runs
The message
Six lines will do: name, phone number, date or date range, time, duration and location. Then optionally a profile that caught the eye, or a request for a suggestion. A surname is not yet needed and an address only for a home visit.
The reply
A good reply carries a name, confirmation of date and duration, and a total including travel costs. If the last is missing, that is the first follow up question.
The conversation
For a first appointment, and almost always for a couple booking, a short call follows. A ten minute call is enough to settle what is meant and what is not.
The confirmation
Who, where, at what time, for how long, for what amount. For a home visit the agency asks for a real address and phone number, for the safety of both sides.
The appointment
Payment is usually settled at the start. Extending during the appointment is possible at most agencies at the hourly rate from the profile.
Afterwards
Agencies ask how it went. That is how they track who suits which kind of request.
Cancelling
Cancelling well ahead usually costs nothing at all. Cancelling within a day often leaves part of the amount due, because the evening was held open.
If no reply arrives
Agencies point out themselves that messages land in spam filters. After half a day of silence, calling is faster than writing again.
Editorial note
What a request looks like in practice can be seen on the booking page of The Men's Company, including the details asked for there.
