Couples

How common it is

A substantial share of requests reaching agencies in the Netherlands and Flanders comes from couples, and for some men it is half of their bookings. Every profile should therefore say whether someone is available for a couple.

The surcharge question

Some agencies charge nothing extra and apply the profile rate. Others add a couple rate. On a single evening that runs into hundreds of euro, so it is the first question to ask.

What is agreed in advance

• What each partner wants, stated separately rather than as a joint story.
• What will not happen.
• How the appointment stops if either partner wants it to: one word, no discussion.
• Whether alcohol is involved and how much.

Where it goes wrong

Almost always at the same point: the partners did not have the same picture. One expected to watch, the other to take part, and it surfaced only once the third person had arrived, when it is hard to undo.

A conversation with both partners beforehand removes that in ten minutes, which is why agencies ask for one.

Afterwards

The conversation between the partners matters more than the appointment. Waiting before a second booking is the usual advice.
