The first time
What usually happens during a first appointment and why the first half hour follows the same pattern.
Nerves are normal
Almost everyone booking for the first time is tense. Agencies hear it daily and the men working through them notice it in the first minutes. Mentioning it in advance changes which name is proposed.
The first half hour
Nothing dramatic happens. A drink, a conversation about how the idea came up, and an exchange about what should and should not happen. Skipping that leads to misunderstandings that are hard to correct later.
How long to book
Two hours is tight for a first time, because the first half hour goes on getting acquainted. Three hours leaves room. Extending is usually possible but then happens under time pressure.
Where
A hotel is the simplest and most common choice. Home is calmer and saves the cost of a room but requires a living situation that allows it. A third form often works best for a first time: start on neutral ground, at a restaurant for instance, and decide afterwards.
What is not required
Nobody has to explain why they are booking. Agencies do not ask and neither do the men working through them.
Afterwards
Agencies ask how it went. Anything that did not feel right can be said there, which works better than hoping the next request turns out differently.
Editorial note
Accounts written by people afterwards are collected on the experiences page of The Men's Company and give a more realistic picture of a first appointment than any sales text.
Unpaid note. dutchgigolo.nl has no commercial relationship with the agencies mentioned and receives nothing for bookings made there.
